BENGALURU: Traffic moving at a snail’s pace, combined with thick dust, has turned the Intermediate Ring Road into a nightmare for two-wheeler riders and pedestrians. Among the worst areas on this route are the Ejipura and Sony World signals.
“I’ve started taking different routes to get to my office in Koramangala,” shared Dan K, a resident of Rustom Bagh on the Outer Ring Road. “My usual commute is a 7.5 km stretch, and even though my alternate path has more signals, I reach work at least 20 minutes earlier. The main road has been dreadful for over three months, especially with all the dust near the Sony World signal. The brief green light there only adds to the frustration,” he said.
Arjun J, an operations manager at a startup, who drives 80 km daily within the city, agrees. He has switched to driving a car due to the dust and rough conditions on the IRR. “The traffic barely moves, and only a handful of vehicles get through when the signal turns green,” he explained.
Motorists also point out that the median along IRR has turned into a dumping ground, contributing to the dusty environment. The ongoing flyover construction has further narrowed the roads, causing traffic to slow even more.
Adding to the woes, Arpit Bhayani, a software engineer from Ejipura, says, “The pavement near the Ejipura signal has been neglected after pipeline work, and people are now dumping garbage there. The stretch from Koramangala to Domlur is filled with four new speed breakers, worsening congestion.”
