Bengaluru’s cost of living has soared to ₹35,887 per month, sparking a debate on whether the city is becoming unaffordable for professionals. A recent viral post by an IT employee who regretted moving to Bengaluru, despite a 40% salary hike, has intensified discussions.

A Pune-based professional, who jumped from ₹18 LPA to ₹25 LPA, expected a better lifestyle but instead found himself struggling with high rents, costly commutes, and unexpected expenses. He lamented, “₹25 LPA feels like ₹15 LPA in Bengaluru.”

Many users defended the city, emphasizing financial discipline and its career growth potential. Some argued that money management is key, while others pointed out that cities like Mumbai, Pune, and Hyderabad also come with challenges.

Common struggles faced by newcomers:
📌 Skyrocketing rent – High rental costs and steep deposits make housing a challenge.
📌 Traffic congestion – Bengaluru commuters spend 240+ hours per year stuck in traffic.
📌 Daily expenses – High living standards impact savings, making budgeting difficult.

Srishti Hemmady, a senior copywriter, shared her experience: “Despite a good salary, I had to stay in a PG for two years to save money. Even auto fares were double the usual rates, making me question my financial well-being.”

While Bengaluru remains a hub for innovation and opportunities, its affordability is a growing concern.
