After a year-long investigation, the Kengeri police have arrested Sharadamma (67), a resident of Kodipalya, in connection with the robbery at the house of Shashikanth, a real estate agent from Kodipalya Vinayak Layout.

In July 2023, gold jewelry worth ₹35 lakh was stolen from Shashikanth’s house. Sharadamma, who was employed as domestic help at the residence, was found to be involved in the crime. When both Shashikant and his wife Chandrika left for work, she took advantage of their absence to steal 583 grams of gold jewelry.

Initially, despite interrogations and evidence suggesting her involvement captured by CCTV cameras and local testimonies, Sharadamma remained uncooperative. To obtain further evidence and confirmation of her involvement in the crime through brain mapping tests; authorities secured court permission for this procedure.

In February 2024 at Madiwala Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), during brain mapping testing sessions; Sharadamma admitted her guilt. Subsequently based on this confession statement and seized gold jewelry as evidence; she was arrested by the police.

The successful arrest serves as a testament to efficient investigative work by law enforcement agencies leading to closure on an extended case.
