Amid frequent complaints about traffic jams, language disputes, and autorickshaw issues, a heartening story from Bengaluru is winning hearts online. A Reddit user shared how a local auto driver went out of his way to return a lost bunch of keys.
The original poster (OP), who is not from Bengaluru, recounted that they were on a solo outing when the touching incident occurred.
“It’s been nearly three years since I shifted to Bangalore. Today, I spontaneously planned a solo date. I started with a metro ride, got off at Church Street, enjoyed a good meal, and then decided to try go-karting,” the user wrote on the r/bangalore subreddit.
After taking an autorickshaw to Indiranagar and settling in a café for coffee, the OP had no idea anything was missing.
“While I was sipping my coffee, the auto driver walked into the café and returned my keychain containing car, house, and locker keys. I hadn’t even realised I’d lost them. He navigated heavy traffic just to bring them back. When I tried to offer him money, he politely refused.”
The OP expressed gratitude for such generosity, noting, “Many posts here criticise auto drivers and say Bengaluru is tough on outsiders. As someone who isn’t from here, I’ve felt genuinely welcome. I’ll soon be leaving the city and will miss it. Namma Bengaluru forever.”
