A 30-year-old badminton coach in south Bengaluru was arrested on Thursday after being accused of inappropriate behavior involving a 16-year-old girl over a period of time. The situation came to light when the girl, who had been training at a local sports center for two years, sent a photo from her grandmother’s phone that raised concerns.
According to police reports, the girl had recently completed her 10th standard exams and was staying with her grandmother during the vacation when the photo was discovered. Upon questioning, the girl shared with her mother that the coach had been meeting her privately under the pretext of extra training.
The coach, who resides alone in the city, reportedly took the girl to his residence on several occasions. After learning of the situation, the girl’s parents reached out to the authorities, leading to the coach’s arrest.
During the investigation, the coach admitted to his actions. The police are continuing their efforts to gather all relevant information and evidence for a thorough investigation.
This case underscores the importance of maintaining a safe environment for minors, especially in activities such as sports, and serves as a reminder of the need for greater vigilance and protection.
