Bengaluru has secured a spot among the world’s 12 premier technology hubs, with its IT workforce exceeding 1 million professionals, according to CBRE’s newly released Global Tech Talent Guidebook 2025. The study examined 115 global cities, ranking them based on tech talent depth, quality, and affordability. Cities were categorized as Powerhouse, Established, or Emerging, and Bengaluru was recognized as a Powerhouse—alongside San Francisco, London, New York, and Tokyo.
Bengaluru now stands as Asia-Pacific’s largest tech labor market, tied with Beijing and Shanghai, underscoring its strategic influence in digital innovation and AI advancement. Between 2018 and 2023, the city reported a 12% surge in tech employment, driven by expertise in data science, product engineering, and artificial intelligence.
CBRE also highlighted that Bengaluru leads in AI-specific workforce concentration within India, rivaling global benchmarks like New York and San Francisco. The city’s working-age population accounts for 75.5%, placing it fourth among Powerhouse cities, with a 2.4% demographic growth from 2019 to 2024.
With 28 unicorns, strong institutional support, and a concentration of Global Capability Centres (GCCs), Bengaluru maintains a robust talent supply chain. In 2024, the city attracted 140 venture capital investments totaling $3.3 billion, with 34 deals focused on AI technologies.
CBRE’s analysis also acknowledges the parallel momentum in cities like Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Jaipur, shaping a resilient, multi-city tech landscape across India.
