The death toll from the building collapse in Bengaluru’s Horamavu Agara area has risen to five, as heavy rains continue to hamper rescue efforts. So far, 13 people have been rescued, while five others have sustained injuries. Around 20 people were inside the illegally constructed building when it collapsed on Tuesday afternoon.
Rescue operations resumed this morning with teams from NDRF, SDRF, and a dog squad working to locate survivors. One individual, Ayaaz, was rescued after being trapped for nearly 16 hours. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar visited the site, promising strict action against those responsible for the illegal construction.
The city remains waterlogged, with the IMD issuing a yellow alert for continued heavy rainfall. Schools are closed, and IT companies have advised employees to work from home.
