Bengaluru: With the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) and the newly created five city corporations beginning independent operations, the commissioners of each civic body carried out inspections across their jurisdictions on Saturday and issued directions to improve civic services.

Central Bengaluru focus on Majestic area

Bengaluru Central Commissioner Rajendra Cholan inspected Majestic and its surrounding areas, one of the busiest hubs in the city. He instructed officials to set up mobile toilets to curb instances of public urination and emphasised the importance of maintaining clean pedestrian walkways in high-footfall zones.

North Bengaluru calls for dedication

In Bengaluru North Corporation, Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar conducted an introductory meeting with civic officials. He urged them to work with commitment towards holistic development of the region while stressing the need to identify and address local issues at the grassroots level.

West Bengaluru reviews cleanliness and encroachment removal

K V Rajendra, Commissioner of Bengaluru West Corporation, reviewed the ongoing community cleanliness drives and the encroachment clearance operations. He directed staff to ensure that encroached spaces are reclaimed for public use and maintained systematically.

South Bengaluru assesses flood-prone areas

In Bengaluru South Corporation, Commissioner Ramesh K N inspected flood-prone stretches and vulnerable pockets. His visit covered areas around Oxford College and Hongasandra metro station, where he reviewed the preparedness to prevent waterlogging during heavy rains.

East Bengaluru targets stormwater drains and footpaths

Bengaluru East Commissioner Ramesh D S focused on the cleaning of stormwater and shoulder drains. He also directed the removal of encroachments on footpaths, ensuring smoother pedestrian movement.

Citywide cleanliness drives

Officials reported that cleanliness drives were organised across all five city corporations, marking the beginning of the new administrative framework. Civic chiefs reiterated their commitment to improving infrastructure, sanitation, and citizen services under the revamped governance model.
