A Bengaluru-based doctor and researcher has earned international recognition after her poem celebrating science was performed at a theatre event in the United States.

Dr Vaishnavi Pusapati, a physician, clinical researcher and poet, recently had her poem Cheers to Science featured by the Infinity Box Theatre Project during its InVerse Functions event in Seattle.

Love for poetry began in school

Dr Pusapati said her journey with poetry began during her school years when she first encountered the work of Robert Frost.

She recalled being deeply inspired by Frost’s writing style and emotional depth.

However, learning about his academic achievements initially made poetry feel distant and difficult to pursue.

From hesitation to expression

She said discovering that Frost studied at Harvard University and later taught poetry there made her feel poetry belonged to a different world.

Though she admired literature, she once believed she could only read poetry, not write it.

That hesitation later gave way to creative confidence.

Science meets art

Her poem Cheers to Science being selected for an international performance reflects a growing movement where science and art come together.

The Seattle event focused on science poetry, blending research themes with creative expression through theatre.

Bengaluru talent shines globally

Dr Pusapati’s recognition highlights how professionals from fields like medicine and research are also finding global voices through literature and the arts.

Her story is being seen as an inspiring reminder that creativity can flourish in any profession.
