Bengaluru continues to wake up to cloudy mornings and wind-swept evenings, offering a refreshing break from the summer heat. As the southwest monsoon draws nearer, the city is expected to remain under partly to generally cloudy skies with light rainfall for the rest of the week.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), no measurable rainfall was recorded in the 24 hours leading up to 8:30 am on June 5. However, conditions remain ideal for occasional drizzles. The maximum temperature reached 30.5°C, slightly above the seasonal norm, while the minimum fell to 20.7°C, a degree below average.

Humidity levels ranged from 82% in the morning to 51% by evening, keeping the air pleasantly moist. The sun is expected to set at 6:44 pm, with sunrise tomorrow at 5:52 am.

Looking ahead, light rain is forecast daily until Sunday, June 9, with temperatures hovering between 31°C to 32°C during the day and around 20°C at night. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms on June 9, suggesting the possibility of heavier rainfall on Monday, June 10. Weather is expected to clear slightly by Tuesday, June 11, with partly cloudy skies.

Though the full onset of the monsoon is still some days away, these pre-monsoon showers are typical for this time of year and signal relief for both residents and the city’s flora.

Residents are advised to carry umbrellas and watch for slippery or waterlogged roads.
