In a disturbing incident from NMH Layout, Sidedahalli in North Bengaluru, a domestic argument spiraled into violence when a man allegedly doused his wife with toilet cleaner acid following a quarrel over loud music.
The victim, a 44-year-old beautician identified as Pallavi (name changed), sustained burn injuries to her head and face. The altercation occurred on May 19 and was reported to the Bagalagunte police. Officials were alerted by a medico-legal report submitted by a private hospital in T Dasarahalli, where Pallavi is currently undergoing treatment.
According to her statement, the couple resides on the third floor of a residential apartment. Around 9 p.m., her husband began pestering her for money to purchase alcohol. When she refused, he created a scene, forcibly took money, and left. He returned heavily intoxicated around 11:30 p.m. and started playing music loudly on his phone.
When Pallavi requested him to lower the volume to avoid disturbing neighbors, he allegedly ignored her and began verbally abusing her. The situation quickly escalated. In a fit of rage, he grabbed a bottle of toilet cleaner from the bathroom and poured the corrosive liquid over her.
She screamed for help, and nearby residents rushed to her aid while the accused fled the scene. A senior police official confirmed that Pallavi is recovering. A case has been registered under BNS Sections 124, 352, and 85, relating to grievous hurt by acid, intentional insult, and cruelty by a husband.
