The Transport Department seized 22 more autorickshaws on Thursday as part of its ongoing action against drivers accused of overcharging and flouting permit rules. Officials also registered cases against 125 drivers.
Among the impounded vehicles, seven were seized within Bengaluru Central RTO limits, six in Electronics City, four in Jnanabharathi, three in Bengaluru West, and two in Devanahalli.
Cases were filed across several zones: 25 in Electronics City, 23 in Bengaluru North, 20 in Central, 14 each in West and South, nine in East, seven each in Yelahanka and KR Puram, four in Jnanabharathi, and two in Devanahalli.
Since the enforcement drive started on June 30, authorities have impounded a total of 212 autorickshaws and filed cases against 731 drivers. The crackdown follows mounting complaints from passengers about unfair fares and service violations.
