Bengaluru: A 29-year-old man from Doddathoguru in Electronics City has claimed he was sexually assaulted while asleep in his paying guest (PG) accommodation. The incident reportedly occurred during the night of April 17, and was brought to police attention after the man, identified as Arjun (name changed), sought treatment at a private hospital the following day.
Arjun said he woke on April 18 with pain in his chest and anus, and observed black ink marks on his hands. He alleged that someone tampered with his locked door and assaulted him while he slept, though he did not name any suspects. He had recently switched rooms within the same PG, citing previous incidents where he felt targeted.
The Electronics City police registered a medico-legal case under BNS Sections 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 329 (criminal trespass), and 333 (house-trespass with intent to cause harm). However, medical professionals at both the private hospital and Victoria Hospital concluded there were no signs of sexual abuse. He was referred to Nimhans for psychiatric evaluation, which he has so far avoided.
Investigations revealed that Arjun is already facing trial in an attempted murder case involving a former roommate. Police suspect the current complaint may be retaliatory, though inquiries are ongoing.
Meanwhile, Arjun’s family in Bihar informed police of his prior mental health treatment.
Police Commissioner B Dayananda warned of rising false complaints and emphasized legal consequences under BNS Sections 248(A) and 248(B), which could lead to 5–10 years of imprisonment and fines up to ₹2 lakh.
