A Bengaluru-based man has been arrested by the Vittal Police for allegedly posting an objectionable comment on Facebook that was considered detrimental to communal harmony.

The accused has been identified as Ananda A., a resident of Vidyamanya Nagara in Bengaluru. According to police, he allegedly posted the comment through a Facebook page named “Sanatani Simha” in response to a post circulating on the social media platform.

Case registered following complaint

Police said a complaint was lodged regarding the comment, following which the Vittal Police registered a case on September 18, 2025, under Section 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. The provision deals with statements or content that may promote enmity or adversely affect communal harmony.

An investigation was subsequently launched to identify the individual responsible for the post.

Accused traced and produced before court

During the course of the investigation, police traced the accused to Bengaluru and took him into custody. He was later arrested and produced before the jurisdictional court for further legal proceedings.

Police have not disclosed additional details about the social media post, stating that the matter remains under investigation.

Authorities have reiterated that strict legal action will be taken against individuals who misuse social media platforms to post content that could disturb public peace or communal harmony.
