Bengaluru: A 37-year-old man from Nagarbhavi has filed a police complaint against his wife and her family, alleging harassment, sexual misconduct, cheating, and forced eviction from his residence in a case that highlights a complex marital dispute.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the complainant married his 31-year-old wife, Shilpa, at a private venue in Bengaluru. The couple later moved into a villa in the Jakkuru area, where disputes reportedly began escalating over time.
Allegations against wife and in-laws
In his complaint, the man has accused his in-laws of interfering in his marital life and instigating conflicts. He alleged that his mother-in-law restricted his access to the house and encouraged him to leave the marriage, claiming her daughter deserved a better partner.
He further alleged that his father-in-law sent individuals to threaten him, adding to his distress.
The complainant also accused his wife of subjecting him to emotional abuse, including mocking his financial status and expressing dissatisfaction with his ability to meet her lifestyle expectations.
Claims of harassment and coercion
The man has levelled serious allegations of mental cruelty and sexual harassment against his wife. He claimed that he was subjected to repeated coercion involving intimate acts and was pressured to engage in activities he was uncomfortable with.
According to the complaint, he was allegedly sent explicit content and asked to replicate such behaviour. He also claimed that he was forced to share details of his private life and was pressured into interactions involving one of her friends.
Additionally, the complainant alleged that his wife admitted to having extramarital relationships, further straining the marriage.
Dispute escalated despite mediation
The issue was reportedly taken up with both families, leading to a mediation meeting held on July 4, 2024. However, the dispute remained unresolved.
The complainant stated that he was eventually forced out of the house on September 24, 2024, and was allowed to take only minimal belongings, including his uniform and laptop.
Allegations of withheld property
He has further alleged that valuables and personal belongings worth lakhs remain in the villa and have been unlawfully withheld. These include ₹1.87 lakh in cash, gold and silver ornaments, and important documents such as his passport and educational certificates.
The complainant also claimed that wedding photos and videos stored on his laptop were deleted, adding to his emotional distress.
Counter-allegations and parallel case
Sources indicate that the wife has also made serious counter-allegations against the husband. A separate FIR is reportedly registered in Tamil Nadu, and the matter is believed to be part of an ongoing legal dispute between the two parties.
Police begin investigation
Police in Bengaluru have registered the case and initiated an investigation to verify the allegations and establish the sequence of events.
Officials stated that given the nature of the claims from both sides, the case will be examined carefully, with due consideration to evidence and legal proceedings.
Conclusion
The case underscores the complexities involved in marital disputes, especially when allegations emerge from both parties across jurisdictions. Authorities are expected to conduct a detailed probe before arriving at any conclusions.
