As rising rents, transport costs and lifestyle spending continue to strain budgets in Bengaluru, a city resident has gone viral for sharing practical ways to save money without making major compromises in daily life.
Akshay CN shared the tips through his Instagram page @bangalore_viral, explaining how small changes in routine helped him reduce unnecessary expenses while still enjoying a comfortable lifestyle in the city.
Living near Metro reduced costs
One of the biggest financial changes Akshay made was shifting closer to a Metro station instead of choosing a more expensive or fashionable neighbourhood.
According to him, although the rent initially appeared slightly higher, the decision eventually saved significant money and mental stress related to daily travel, fuel and auto expenses.
He explained that shorter commute times and easier public transport access made a major difference to his monthly spending.
Convenience spending became expensive
Akshay also spoke about how small convenience-based purchases quietly increased his expenses over time.
He said quick delivery apps, auto rides, subscriptions and frequent online purchases slowly became one of the biggest drains on his monthly budget in Bengaluru.
Another major change was planning weekends in advance instead of making impulsive outings to cafes, pubs and restaurants.
Lifestyle pressure affects many professionals
The Bengaluru resident also highlighted how workplace culture can create silent pressure to constantly upgrade gadgets and maintain a certain lifestyle.
He shared that he stopped buying new gadgets simply because people around him were upgrading theirs.
Cooking at home more often instead of depending on food delivery also significantly improved both his health and savings, he added.
Ending the video, Akshay said higher salaries alone do not solve financial problems and that disciplined spending habits matter far more in expensive cities like Bengaluru.
The video has resonated with many working professionals online who related to the rising cost of urban living.
