A 25-year-old man was stabbed in Bengaluru on August 15 after a violent confrontation linked to a love triangle. Police said the attack occurred near Jataka Stand in Palace Guttahalli when the accused, upset over his girlfriend dating another man, assaulted his rival with the help of his brother and friends.
The victim, identified as Chandan Gowda, a resident of Vijayanagar, sustained stab wounds to his chest and abdomen. He was rushed to a local hospital by his relative Prajwal and later shifted to Victoria Hospital, where he underwent surgery and is currently recovering.
Investigators revealed that the prime accused, Yatish (26), works as a salesman. He was reportedly unable to accept that his girlfriend had broken up with him and started dating Chandan. Enraged, Yatish, along with his brother Harsha (23) and others, allegedly confronted Chandan and attacked him.
Chandan, who lives with his parents on Nagappa Street in Vyalikaval, had been in a relationship with the woman for the past three months. On the day of the incident, he had informed Prajwal that he was going to meet Yatish. Around 9:35 pm, he called back saying he had been stabbed.
Police have arrested Yatish and Harsha on charges of attempted murder. The involvement of other accomplices is being investigated.
Authorities said further questioning is underway to identify all those responsible for the assault
