The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has joined forces with SUN Mobility, a company specializing in electric vehicle energy solutions, to set up battery-swapping hubs at metro stations. These facilities are strategically placed near parking zones and auto-rickshaw stands to promote seamless and eco-friendly commuting.

Over the past month, these stations have powered journeys covering a total of 1.25 lakh kilometers, catering to around 19,000 electric vehicles. On average, a single station supports approximately 2,800 vehicles daily, including 2,300 two-wheelers and 500 three-wheelers.

Seven stations on the Green and Purple Metro Lines have already begun operations, with plans to roll out 12 more in the near future. These hubs are designed to enhance convenience for metro passengers while reducing their carbon footprint.

“BMRCL is committed to sustainable urban transport and boosting connectivity for last-mile commuters. Through this partnership, we aim to provide significant value to EV users while scaling this initiative across the city,” said Maheshwar Rao M, Managing Director of BMRCL.

This collaboration reflects the metro’s dedication to modernizing urban mobility by integrating innovative, green solutions into its framework. As the network expands, it strives to make eco-friendly commuting a practical and accessible option for all citizens.
