Police now suspect that the murder of Gouri Anil Sambrekar, 32, by her husband Rakesh Rajendra Khedekar, 36, was a premeditated act rather than an impulsive crime. Investigations reveal that Rakesh attempted to stuff Gouri into a suitcase while she was still alive before ultimately abandoning the plan.

When the suitcase handle broke, he dragged it to the bathroom and positioned it near the drain to remove the blood. After cleaning the crime scene, he locked the house and fled in his Honda City, heading toward Mumbai to meet his parents.

Rakesh’s father, Rajendra, stated that Gouri was his niece and that their family had opposed the marriage due to frequent quarrels. On Thursday afternoon, Rakesh confessed to his father, saying he was contemplating suicide. His father urged him to surrender and informed the Mumbai police.

After leaving Bengaluru, Rakesh purchased phenyl and chemicals in Kagal before consuming them near Shirwal. Meanwhile, he misled his tenant, claiming Gouri had died by suicide. Police traced the house, broke in, and found her body inside the suitcase.
