As India approaches its 78th Independence Day celebrations, meticulous preparations are underway across the nation. The iconic Red Fort in Delhi is being readied for the grand event, and Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka, is also making significant preparations. On August 15, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is scheduled to hoist the national flag at the Manekshaw Parade Ground in Bengaluru. However, amidst these preparations, Bengaluru faces an additional concern—identified as a potential target for terrorist activities.
In response to this threat, the Bengaluru Police have heightened security measures throughout the city. Bengaluru City Police Commissioner B. Dayananda has issued a critical directive to the President of the Bengaluru Hotel Owners Association. The directive urges hotel operators to remain exceptionally vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the local police.
The directive specifically calls for hotel owners and staff to be on the lookout for foreign nationals, suspicious individuals, or unidentified persons staying at their establishments. Commissioner Dayananda has emphasised the necessity of maintaining a detailed record of all guests, including their identification and photographs. This measure is aimed at bolstering the city’s security infrastructure during this sensitive period.
The heightened security measures follow a recent bomb blast at Rameshwar Café in Bengaluru, which has intensified the need for strict precautionary actions. The incident has underscored the importance of comprehensive vigilance and coordination among local authorities and the public to prevent further occurrences.
As Bengaluru gears up for the Independence Day 2024 celebrations, the city’s police force is ensuring that every possible precaution is taken to safeguard its residents and visitors. With the increased vigilance and cooperation from hotel management, the authorities aim to create a secure environment for the festivities and maintain public safety.
The Bengaluru Police remain committed to addressing the security concerns and will continue to update and advise the community as needed. The focus remains on ensuring a safe and joyous Independence Day celebration for all.
