The Bagalagunte police have cracked a burglary case and recovered 99 grams of stolen gold ornaments valued at ₹9.9 lakh after arresting six suspects. The case was registered following a complaint by Mangala, a hotel owner from Bagalagunte, who reported that her rented house had been broken into on July 12. The intruders allegedly bent the lock and made away with gold ornaments and cash while she was at work.
Police registered a case under BNS Section 331(3) (lurking house-trespass or housebreaking) and launched an investigation. Acting on a tip-off, they first arrested Venkatesh (43) on July 21. Two days later, they apprehended Krishna alias Mori Raja (52), believed to be the kingpin. Krishna is a habitual offender with more than 20 previous cases across Bengaluru.
Further arrests included Harish alias Appu (34), Nagaraja alias Devru (29), and Pratap (22). Investigators also took Kavita (33) into custody after discovering her role in the crime. Police revealed that Kavita, who had a loan agreement with complainant Mangala, informed her brother Venkatesh about the victim’s house, enabling the burglary.
The gang, under Krishna’s leadership, then executed the theft. Police have since recovered the stolen ornaments and confirmed that further investigation is underway to determine if the group was involved in other burglaries in the city.
Authorities said the arrests highlight the importance of community vigilance and swift police response in curbing repeat offenders.
