The Bengaluru police arrested three individuals, including an African national, for drug peddling in separate operations, seizing contraband worth ₹86.5 lakh in total.

In the largest bust, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) apprehended Kovsi Gelan Gesan, a 38-year-old Ivory Coast national, near Soladevanahalli on November 22. Authorities confiscated 515 grams of MDMA crystals, along with an electronic weighing machine and a mobile phone, valued at ₹77 lakh. Investigations revealed that Gesan, in India on a business visa since 2017, had overstayed and targeted college students and corporate professionals. He sourced narcotics from local suppliers and sold MDMA for ₹12,000-₹15,000 per gram.

In another case, the Sampigehalli police arrested Abdul Bashir, a Bellandur resident, recovering 4 kg of ganja worth ₹2 lakh. Bashir allegedly procured the ganja from West Bengal at low rates for local distribution in Bengaluru.

In a third incident, the Marathahalli police detained Bijoy Kujur, 24, from West Bengal, on November 1. They seized ganja valued at ₹7.5 lakh, which was stored at a labor shed near Kariyammana Agrahara. Investigations indicated Kujur smuggled the drugs from Assam for resale in the city.

All suspects are in custody, with further investigations ongoing to trace their supply networks and collaborators. The arrests underscore Bengaluru police’s intensified efforts to combat the city’s growing drug menace.
