In an unusual situation, the Siddapura Police Station in Bengaluru has turned into a temporary vault after more than ₹5 crore in recovered cash from a major robbery case was stored inside the premises.
To safeguard the large amount of money, police have implemented strict night-time security measures, including locking the station gates after 2 AM and closely monitoring anyone approaching the premises.
Linked to ₹7 crore robbery case
The recovered cash is connected to a sensational ₹7 crore robbery case that recently shocked Bengaluru.
Following the heist, the Bengaluru South Division police formed four to five special teams to track down those involved.
After extensive investigations and operations, police managed to arrest the accused and recover a significant portion of the stolen cash, with over ₹5 crore currently stored at the Siddapura police station.
Station under tight security
The presence of such a large amount of money has made police personnel extra cautious.
Officers reportedly close the station’s main gates every night after 2 AM and personally stand guard outside.
Anyone approaching the police station during late-night hours undergoes strict security checks before being allowed near the building.
Entry is only permitted for individuals with genuine and urgent reasons, such as filing official complaints.
Court process delaying handover
Officials said the recovered cash cannot be returned immediately due to legal procedures that must be completed first.
Under standard protocol, recovered property must be registered through a Property Form (PF) and submitted to the relevant court.
Police have already completed the paperwork and informed the court about the seized money.
The next step requires CMS company, the rightful owner of the cash, to formally approach the court to claim the recovered funds.
Police continue guarding cash
Once the court verifies the claim, it will issue instructions to police to hand over the money.
However, due to procedural delays, the large sum remains stored at the station for now.
Until the legal process is completed, police officers are continuing their strict security arrangements to protect the cash, turning the station into one of the most heavily guarded spots in the area at night.
