An anonymous letter accusing corruption and neglect by officials at Bengaluru’s Ramamurthy Nagar police station has resulted in the suspension of six police personnel, including an inspector. On Wednesday, N. Sateesh Kumar, the Additional Commissioner of Police (East), issued the suspension orders for Inspector Mutturaj H, Sub-Inspector Umesh, Assistant Sub-Inspectors Firoz Khan and Mahesh, Head Constable Manjunath, and Constable Basavaraj Allolli. All of these officers were stationed at the Ramamurthy Nagar police station.

The decision to suspend the officers came after an investigation led by the K.G. Halli Assistant Commissioner of Police, which confirmed that the allegations mentioned in the letter were valid.

The anonymous letter outlined several incidents of misconduct. It claimed that on June 30, four men assaulted police constables at a local bar but no action was taken. The letter alleged that Inspector Mutturaj had accepted a bribe in exchange for ignoring the assault. Additionally, the letter accused Mutturaj of releasing a drug peddler named Tony (alias Antony) on August 28 without filing charges, despite the detention involving illegal substances.

Another serious allegation was that Mutturaj failed to include Gaurav, the primary suspect in the murder of Antony Regan on July 20, in the FIR or chargesheet, despite evidence linking him and his accomplices to the crime.

Mutturaj, who had previously served in Tumakuru, was posted to Ramamurthy Nagar as his first Bengaluru assignment. Local residents had previously expressed dissatisfaction with his performance, which may have contributed to the anonymous letter that led to the probe.
