A 27-year-old woman was allegedly sexually harassed inside a popular pub in central Bengaluru, prompting swift police action. The accused, later identified as Anurag—an IT sector employee—was arrested from Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday following the complaint.

As per the First Information Report (FIR) filed at Cubbon Park Police Station, the incident occurred on the night of June 21 at Hard Rock Cafe on St. Mark’s Road, near Cubbon Park.

The victim, also a software professional, recounted in her statement that she entered the venue around 9:30 PM. Roughly thirty minutes later, a man approached her and casually said “cheers.” At around 10:45 PM, while she went to the bar to request a glass of water, the same individual allegedly initiated small talk again and suddenly groped her on the left side of her chest while uttering “hi.”

Shocked and distressed by the inappropriate contact, the woman promptly reported the incident to the police. Authorities launched an investigation and successfully identified the suspect, who had no prior connection with the victim. He was tracked down to Andhra Pradesh and taken into custody.

The police confirmed that the accused, Anurag, has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Investigations are underway to gather further evidence, including CCTV footage from the premises and witness testimonies.

The case has sparked outrage on social media, highlighting the need for stricter enforcement and safer nightlife environments for women in the city.
