Bengaluru: The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has informed the Karnataka High Court that nearly 74 per cent of the potholes identified across Bengaluru’s five city corporations have been repaired.
The authority told the court on Friday that around 2,600 of more than 10,000 identified potholes remain to be repaired, indicating that about 7,400 have been addressed.
GBA seeks more time to submit report
The GBA requested additional time to file a detailed affidavit as repair work is still underway. A bench comprising Chief Justice Vibhu Bakhru and Justice K S Hemalekha allowed the request.
The court, however, orally observed that the authority had already been given a final opportunity in July to submit its affidavit.
Over 1 lakh potholes identified till April
The GBA also stated that around 1,02,022 potholes had been identified across Bengaluru till April.
The latest figures presented before the High Court indicate significant progress in the ongoing repair exercise, although thousands of potholes reportedly remain to be addressed.
With the repair work continuing, the court is expected to receive a detailed account of the action taken by the civic authority through its affidavit.
Focus remains on safer city roads
The pothole issue has remained a major concern for Bengaluru residents, particularly during the monsoon, when damaged road surfaces can create difficulties for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.
The GBA’s ongoing repair exercise is aimed at addressing the identified road defects, while the High Court proceedings continue to monitor the civic authority’s response.
