In a disturbing case of road rage in Bengaluru, a man viciously bit a motorist’s finger following a minor rainwater splash incident. The victim, businessman Jayant Shekhar from Magadi Road, required immediate surgery on his right ring finger, with treatment costs nearing ₹2 lakh. A case has been registered under multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the unidentified assailant and a woman accompanying him. Authorities are currently searching for the pair.
The altercation unfolded on May 26, when Shekhar was returning home with his wife Parvati and mother-in-law after dinner. While passing a waterlogged stretch near the railway colony on Magadi Road, his electric car unintentionally splashed rainwater onto another vehicle (KA-02-MT-0512). The occupants of the splashed vehicle— a man and a woman — began shouting at Shekhar. Though he apologized, the other driver aggressively overtook him, blocked his path, and forced a confrontation.
The man dragged Shekhar out of his vehicle, shouted obscenities, and suddenly bit down hard on his finger. He then struck him below the eye and issued threats before fleeing the scene. Parvati rushed Shekhar to a private hospital in Seshadripuram where doctors confirmed bone damage, requiring immediate surgery.
Parvati also noted that the woman was equally hostile, threatening them with further harm. She filed a police complaint the next day.
This is the latest in a series of violent road rage incidents, including a recent attempted murder charge involving an IAF officer and the death of a delivery executive in 2024.
