A 19-year-old college student has approached the women’s police station in Bengaluru district, accusing her father of repeatedly assaulting her. Authorities have taken him into custody and are questioning him.
The survivor, a second-year BCom student, revealed that she is the eldest daughter of a cab driver and a homemaker. She stated that in April last year, while alone at home with her father, he inappropriately touched her despite her resistance. Trusting that it was a one-time incident, she remained silent. However, a month later, when the house was empty again, he allegedly threatened her life and forced himself on her, showing an explicit video beforehand.
Over the past ten months, the girl claims she endured sexual abuse 8-10 times, each time being threatened with dire consequences if she spoke out. Unable to withstand the trauma, she moved to a paying guest accommodation in East Bengaluru, balancing studies with a job at a supermarket.
In February, she confided in an NGO in Kolar about her ordeal and eventually gathered the courage to report the crime. Upon discovering the complaint, the accused allegedly assaulted her.
A case has been filed under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including criminal intimidation, assault with intent to outrage modesty, and rape.
