A Bengaluru-based software developer has shared a heartfelt message on Reddit, shedding light on the severe unemployment issues in urban areas. Despite earning a degree in Information Science and Engineering in 2023, the individual has been unable to secure a permanent position for nearly two years. In his post, he goes so far as to offer his services for free in order to gain valuable work experience, emphasizing the hardships faced by many recent graduates in an oversaturated job market.
The Reddit post, titled “Burn my resume but please help. Eager & Willing to Work for Free Remotely – 2023 Graduate Seeking Job Urgently,” was an emotional request for assistance. The individual explained his skills in programming languages like Java and Python, as well as his expertise in DevOps, Cloud Computing, and Machine Learning. Additionally, he has hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, and API development. Despite completing two internships of one month each, he has yet to land a full-time role.
His plea for help is clear: “At this point, I am open to working remotely without pay to showcase my abilities and gain experience. If anyone knows of any openings—internships, freelance projects, or even open-source opportunities—please get in touch. I’m desperate but determined to contribute and grow.”
This post highlights the growing struggle many young professionals face in Bengaluru’s competitive tech industry, where finding stable work remains a significant challenge despite possessing the necessary qualifications.
