Bengaluru is poised to enhance its position as the leading gaming destination in India with two significant events revealed at GAFX 2025: an Esports & Gaming Summit and a Game Developers Conference.

Karnataka’s IT Minister, Priyank Kharge, took to X to announce the news, emphasizing the state’s dedication to integrating gaming as a vital component of the digital economy.

Kharge highlighted, “The gaming industry in India is rapidly evolving, no longer a niche segment. With an annual growth rate of 23%, and 590 million gamers across the country, India has become the world’s largest gaming market. Bengaluru stands at the forefront, with the highest concentration of gaming startups.”

The Esports & Gaming Summit aims to create a platform for Indian gamers to hone their skills, while the Game Developers Conference will unite national and international creators to foster innovation, develop new intellectual properties (IPs), and push creative limits.

These developments are set to further elevate Karnataka’s leadership in the gaming sector and solidify Bengaluru’s status as the gaming capital of India.

In other news, the Karnataka Assembly recently passed the Greater Bengaluru Governance Bill. This bill establishes a Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) under the leadership of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, granting administrative, planning, and executive powers to improve the city’s governance and infrastructure.
