Karnataka is set to develop massive aquarium and immersive marine experience centres in Bengaluru and Mysuru under a ₹224-crore tourism and conservation project.
The highlight of the initiative is a ₹144-crore state-of-the-art aquarium planned at Bannerghatta Biological Park in Bengaluru. Officials said the facility will feature live exhibits of freshwater, brackish water and marine species from ecosystems across Asia.
The project will also introduce immersive underwater-themed experiences, including guided scuba-diving attractions, interactive digital zones and walk-through aquarium tunnels aimed at offering visitors a close look at marine biodiversity.
Authorities said the new attractions are designed to boost tourism, environmental awareness and recreational experiences for families, students and travellers visiting Bengaluru.
A similar marine experience centre is also planned at Mysuru Zoo as part of the larger development initiative.
Officials believe the project will transform Bengaluru into a major destination for aquarium tourism and interactive wildlife education. The scuba-diving feature, in particular, has already generated excitement online among adventure seekers and young visitors.
Experts say immersive conservation attractions are becoming increasingly popular worldwide as cities invest in educational entertainment and eco-tourism experiences.
The government is expected to announce further details regarding timelines, visitor facilities and operational plans in the coming months.
