Bengaluru is set to experience a welcome break from the intense heat, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning on Wednesday. This forecast promises much-needed relief for the city, which has been grappling with fluctuating temperatures around 36°C during the day and cooling to 20°C at night.
Following the rains, temperatures are expected to drop significantly, with the maximum temperature likely to hover around 30°C by Thursday. The weather in Bengaluru is predicted to remain cool and rainy throughout the week, providing a refreshing change from the recent heatwave.
The IMD has also issued a warning for strong surface winds across various districts of Karnataka on April 2, including Bengaluru, which will see a partly cloudy sky today. In addition to Bengaluru, several districts in South Karnataka—Mysuru, Hassan, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, and Chamarajanagar—will experience moderate rain and thundershowers, along with gusty winds reaching 40-50 km/h. On April 3, heavy rainfall and even hailstorms are expected in parts of Kodagu, Hassan, and Chikkamagaluru.
North Karnataka will also face intense rainfall, with the possibility of hail and strong winds. Areas such as Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Bagalkote, and Vijayapura will experience heavy showers and thunderstorms, while coastal districts like Uttara Kannada, Udupi, and Dakshina Kannada are likely to see heavy rains and isolated hailstorms.
With widespread rain expected across the region, residents are urged to take precautions against possible disruptions caused by the strong winds and heavy showers. Overall, the coming days will bring much-needed precipitation to counter the heat, especially for those in North and South Karnataka.
