Bengaluru to hold two-day special campaign for voter roll claims

Bengaluru: The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), on behalf of the Election Commission, will conduct a two-day special campaign on September 19 and 20 to help citizens submit claims and objections to the draft electoral roll prepared under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.

The campaign will provide voters with an opportunity to verify their details in the draft roll and seek corrections or raise objections wherever necessary.

Campaign at polling stations and ward offices

The special campaign will be held at the offices of Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), ward offices and polling stations across the GBA limits.

Officials will be available during the campaign to assist citizens with voter registration-related queries and the submission of claims and objections.

The district election authorities have urged eligible citizens to make use of the two-day exercise and verify their names and other details in the electoral roll.

Draft roll published on August 24

The draft electoral roll covering all 28 Assembly constituencies in Bengaluru district was published on August 24 as part of the SIR exercise.

Citizens can submit claims and objections to the draft electoral roll until September 23.

The special campaign on September 19 and 20 is intended to make the verification and submission process more accessible by providing assistance at multiple locations across Bengaluru.

Citizens who find errors or discrepancies in their voter details can approach the designated officials and submit the necessary documents and forms.

Voters urged to verify details

Election authorities have appealed to eligible voters to check their entries rather than wait until the claims and objections period closes.

The exercise is also intended to ensure that eligible citizens can raise objections wherever required and seek corrections to their electoral roll details.
