New Delhi/Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) has issued a warning to commuters about potential traffic disruptions in the city over the coming days due to Navratri and Durga Puja celebrations at Palace Grounds and ongoing roadwork on Sarjapur Road.

Heavy congestion expected on Bellary Road

Large-scale Navratri and Durga Puja events at Palace Grounds are scheduled from September 28 to October 2, prompting the BTP to anticipate heavy traffic on Bellary Road during this period. Authorities have urged commuters to plan journeys in advance, start early, and consider alternate routes to avoid delays.

The area is expected to see a significant increase in vehicle and pedestrian movement, particularly in the evenings. Traffic marshals will be deployed to manage the flow, but congestion is likely unavoidable.

Partial closure on Sarjapur Road for white-topping

White-topping work on Sarjapur Road will begin on September 30, specifically between Automart Junction and Agara Junction, and is expected to continue for about two months. One side of the road will remain closed, affecting normal traffic patterns.

Vehicles will be allowed to travel from Koramangala Jakkasandra towards Agara and Outer Ring Road, but traffic from Agara and Outer Ring Road towards Koramangala Jakkasandra will be restricted.

Recommended alternate routes

Commuters heading from Outer Ring Road towards Koramangala are advised to follow this route:

  1. Take the Agara Flyover upper ramp.
  2. Enter the service road at either the 19th Main Road Junction or 14th Main Road upper ramp.
  3. Proceed to 14th Main Road Junction, make a right turn, and continue towards Automart side.

Authorities have requested commuters to cooperate with traffic officials and follow signage to ensure smoother traffic movement during this period.

Conclusion

With festivals drawing large crowds and roadwork limiting traffic flow, Bengaluru commuters should anticipate delays and plan accordingly. Adhering to traffic advisories and using alternate routes can help reduce congestion and ensure safer journeys.
