Bengaluru Traffic Police have launched a tough stance against bikers performing dangerous stunts on the city’s roads, following a rise in viral videos showing reckless maneuvers. Authorities have firmly warned that public roads are not a place for stunts and promised strict legal actions against offenders.
In a recent post on social media, Bengaluru Traffic Police reinforced their zero-tolerance policy, stating, “Bengaluru roads are NOT your stunt track! Try a wheelie, and we’ll be there to bring you back to reality—on four wheels.” The post included a video showing two bikers performing wheelies on a busy street, followed by footage of the police identifying and penalizing them.
This crackdown follows an alarming increase in such dangerous activities. Just last month, Madiwala Traffic Police swiftly acted against two riders caught performing a wheelie on a scooter in a high-traffic area. The incident, widely shared on social media, prompted immediate police intervention.
The Risks of Wheelies and Reckless Stunts
Performing a wheelie, where a rider lifts the bike’s front wheel off the ground while moving, is a dangerous maneuver that poses several risks. Although such stunts are common in controlled environments like motorsports, doing them on public roads can lead to loss of control, impaired visibility, and put other road users in danger.
Under Indian traffic laws, such actions fall under reckless driving, which can result in severe consequences, including hefty fines, license suspension, or even vehicle seizure. If a stunt causes an accident, the rider could face criminal charges, including endangering lives.
As Bengaluru struggles with traffic congestion and road safety issues, the police remain focused on curbing dangerous driving behaviors to ensure safer roads for everyone.
