In the wake of allegations that animal fat was used in the preparation of the famous Tirupati Laddu, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) temple in Andhra Pradesh underwent a purification ritual yesterday.
The controversy has deeply affected the sentiments of millions of Hindus. In response, a Shanti Homa was conducted in Tirupati yesterday, accompanied by Panchgavya Samprokshana. Likewise, the TTD temple in Bengaluru is scheduled for a similar purification, which will begin this morning and continue from Friday to Sunday.
Priests from Tirupati will oversee the holy event, which involves the thorough cleaning of the temple premises and the performance of special pujas. This purification ceremony, traditionally held every year on the auspicious Shravana Saturday, has been expanded this year due to the recent controversy surrounding the Laddu.
