Bengaluru: A Bengaluru woman has alleged that a Zepto delivery partner behaved inappropriately at her doorstep by repeatedly asking to enter her house after requesting drinking water. The incident, which she shared on social media, has sparked concern over the safety of customers during doorstep deliveries.
The woman, who uses the Instagram handle ‘thatamethystgirl’, narrated her experience in a video that has since gone viral.
Woman claims delivery partner repeatedly sought entry
According to the woman, the delivery executive arrived at her residence to deliver an order and requested drinking water. She said she handed him a bottle and even asked him to keep it.
However, after finishing the water, the delivery partner allegedly asked for more and repeatedly requested permission to enter her home for a few minutes.
The woman said she declined his requests, but the delivery executive allegedly continued insisting on being allowed inside.
Doorbell repeatedly rung, woman says
She further alleged that when she attempted to close the gate, the delivery partner repeatedly rang the doorbell and knocked on the door, continuing to ask for entry into the house.
Feeling uncomfortable and unsafe, the woman said she immediately shut the door and remained indoors until the situation was over.
Zepto responds to complaint
Following the viral post, Zepto reportedly contacted the customer and initiated action against the delivery partner.
In a follow-up video, the woman said the company informed her that the delivery executive’s account had been terminated and that restrictions had been put in place to prevent him from approaching her residence in the future.
She also stated that Zepto had issued a written apology and shared a copy of the rider’s resignation letter. According to her, the company assured her that legal action would be initiated if the individual attempted to visit her residence again.
The woman thanked Zepto for responding promptly and addressing her complaint.
The incident has once again highlighted growing concerns about customer safety during doorstep deliveries and the importance of swift action in addressing complaints involving delivery personnel.
