A Bengaluru woman’s visit to Anand Sweets & Savouries in Koramangala turned traumatic when she allegedly uncovered a hidden phone filming her inside the women’s washroom. Visiting the restaurant for a hygienic restroom during her period, she grew suspicious of a gap in the wall, discovering a concealed camera behind wooden slats and fibreglass.
Terrified, she alerted the management, demanding checks on staff phones. Her concerns were dismissed, prompting her to call the police. Upon viewing CCTV footage, authorities identified a staff member who, after hours of questioning, confessed to recording her. He claimed to have deleted the videos and attempted to evoke sympathy by calling her “didi” and mentioning his infant daughter.
She later discovered disturbing content on his phone—including images of other women. To her dismay, Anand Sweets staff allegedly tried to silence her, with the regional director urging forgiveness and dismissing the accused as a third-party contractor. She described emotional manipulation, blocked exits, and a sense of being trapped and humiliated, leading to panic attacks and sleeplessness.
Despite societal pressure to “move on” and not press charges, she has vowed to seek justice. The case has ignited discussions around women’s safety, corporate accountability, and victim shaming.
Anand Sweets issued a public statement condemning the incident, confirming cooperation with police, and pledging corrective measures including female restroom attendants, daily inspections, and gender-separated facilities.
