Bengaluru: In a chilling act of domestic violence, a 43-year-old man brutally stabbed his wife to death on a public road in Chikkathoguru, near Electronics City, on Friday night. The accused, identified as Krishnappa alias Krishna from Bagepalli, was immediately apprehended by shocked bystanders and handed over to police.

The victim, K Sharada (40), a domestic worker, was attacked around 8 p.m. as she was returning home from work. Krishnappa, who had allegedly harbored long-standing suspicions about her fidelity, had been estranged from Sharada for the past four years. During this period, their 15-year-old son lived with Krishnappa, while their 12-year-old daughter stayed with Sharada.

According to police, the murder was premeditated. Krishnappa reportedly travelled from Bagepalli armed with two newly purchased knives. Knowing Sharada’s routine, he waited for her and then launched the fatal assault, repeatedly stabbing her in the neck. She died on the spot.

The couple had been married for 17 years but were living separately due to Krishnappa’s relentless accusations and harassment. Authorities say Krishnappa made no attempt to hide his intent and tried to flee after the attack, but members of the public intervened and restrained him until police arrived.

The incident has once again raised urgent questions about the rising violence against women and the need for stronger preventative action and legal enforcement in domestic abuse cases.
