Chikkaballapur: A 25-year-old physiotherapist from Bengaluru was found dead under suspicious circumstances at a homestay near Muddenahalli village in Karnataka, while her boyfriend was discovered unconscious in the same room. Police have registered a murder case and are investigating all possible angles.

The deceased has been identified as Sai Surbhi, while her boyfriend, 26-year-old Sanjeet Ali, a mechanical engineering graduate from Kerala who reportedly worked as a cab driver, is undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Woman found dead inside homestay

According to police, the incident came to light after the caretaker of the homestay alerted authorities about a man and a woman inside one of the rooms.

Responding to the information, a police team reached the spot and found Surbhi dead, while Ali was lying unconscious.

He was immediately shifted to a hospital for treatment.

Chikkaballapur Superintendent of Police Kushal Chouksey said the exact sequence of events is yet to be established and that the investigation is in its early stages.

Rope, tablets and alcohol bottles recovered

During the inspection of the room, police recovered a rope, tablets and alcohol bottles.

Investigators suspect Ali may have consumed tablets before he was found unconscious.

Police said his statement will be recorded once he regains consciousness, as it is expected to be crucial in determining what transpired at the homestay.

Family suspects murder

According to police, Surbhi’s parents opposed the couple’s relationship and have alleged that Ali murdered their daughter.

Investigators are examining whether the woman was killed before Ali allegedly attempted to end his own life.

Police have clarified that all possibilities are being investigated and that no conclusions will be drawn until forensic and post-mortem reports are received.

Couple had previously eloped

Preliminary investigations indicate that Surbhi and Ali were in a relationship and had reportedly eloped to Kannur in Kerala last year before later returning.

Police said they had informed authorities at the time that they had left voluntarily.

According to Surbhi’s mother, the 25-year-old had travelled to Chikkaballapur about a week ago to volunteer at a hospital.

Homestay records reportedly show that Ali checked into the property on Saturday, while the caretaker was unable to confirm when Surbhi arrived.

Investigation underway

Police have registered a murder case at the Nandi Police Station and launched a detailed investigation.

Officials said forensic experts have examined the scene, and investigators are awaiting scientific evidence, including forensic analysis and the post-mortem report.

Police also plan to question Ali after his medical condition improves to establish the sequence of events.

Conclusion

The mysterious death of the Bengaluru physiotherapist has raised several unanswered questions. With a murder case now registered, investigators are examining forensic evidence, witness accounts and the boyfriend’s statement to determine exactly what happened inside the homestay.
