Bengaluru: A 23-year-old man allegedly died by suicide in Attur Layout of Yelahanka New Town, with police suspecting that a strained personal relationship may have contributed to the incident.
The deceased, identified as Abhishek, was a BCom graduate working as a delivery executive at a private firm.
Video call before incident
According to police sources, the incident occurred on April 9. Abhishek is said to have made a video call to a woman he was in a relationship with shortly before taking the extreme step.
During the call, he reportedly informed her of his intention to end his life. Police said he later wrote a purported note before dying by hanging at his residence.
Relationship issues under scrutiny
Preliminary investigations indicate that Abhishek had been in a relationship with the woman, but her family had opposed it. Earlier, a complaint had been filed against him, following which he was called to the police station, counselled, and warned.
After this intervention, the woman is said to have distanced herself from him. Despite repeated attempts by Abhishek to reconnect, she reportedly refused to engage, which may have caused emotional distress.
Police are examining all aspects of the case, including the contents of the note and communication records, to establish the circumstances leading to the incident.
Family alleges harassment
The deceased’s family has alleged that the woman played a role in his death and has sought action. However, police have not confirmed any such link at this stage and stated that the investigation is ongoing.
Officials emphasised that conclusions will be drawn only after a thorough probe, including verification of evidence and statements from those involved.
Case registered, probe continues
The Yelahanka New Town Police have registered a case of unnatural death and initiated further investigation. The body has been sent for postmortem examination.
Authorities are expected to analyse digital evidence and statements to determine whether any legal culpability arises in the case.
Conclusion
The incident highlights the emotional challenges associated with strained relationships and the importance of timely support and intervention. Police have urged the public to seek help during distress and allow the investigation to proceed based on facts and evidence.
