A viral video from Bengaluru that depicted a man being beaten by a crowd for allegedly installing a camera inside a geyser to record inappropriate videos of a woman has taken an unexpected turn. Bengaluru Police have since clarified that the incident was fabricated, revealing that the parties involved were actually in a consensual affair. The “camera in the geyser” story was apparently a cover-up, as reported by The Times of India.

The video that circulated online showed a masked woman in her 20s accusing the man of blackmail, which led to public outrage and prompted bystanders to take matters into their own hands, urging the woman to hit him with slippers. The police were notified and arrived at the scene to escort both the man and the woman to the station.

During the investigation, officers questioned the plausibility of a camera surviving inside a geyser due to its high temperatures. As the man denied the accusations, officers grew suspicious and began looking into the details. Upon separating the parties for questioning, the woman confessed to a different version of events. She admitted to sending intimate photos to the man during their affair, but when their relationship was discovered, she claimed to be unaware of how the photos appeared on his phone. To cover up the situation, she had accused him of blackmail.

When asked to file a formal complaint, the woman declined, and the man also decided not to press charges against those who had assaulted him. By midnight, both parties left the police station without any official charges being filed. A senior officer remarked that the incident was a case of an affair that had gotten out of control.
