In the fast-paced world of today, craft chocolates offer a chance to slow down and savor the richness of every bite. This is why Bengaluru is witnessing a surge in both production and demand for these unique, artisanal treats. Crafted in small batches from single-origin cocoa beans, these chocolates stand out due to their distinct flavors, quality ingredients, and minimal processing.

Abhishek Singhania, founder of Zoroy Luxury Chocolates, describes Bengaluru as “the Belgium of India,” referencing Belgium’s legacy as a chocolate-making hub. “Craft chocolate is an international movement finally making its way to India,” says Luca Beltrami, a cocoa supplier in Karnataka. Singhania adds that the category is growing at about 30% for their brand.

The city’s diverse, cosmopolitan population is fueling a growing appreciation for premium chocolate. “Bengaluru residents are becoming more aware of chocolate quality, eager to explore the complex flavors of craft chocolates,” says Geetha R, founder of Cocoameet homemade chocolate.

For many enthusiasts like Anjana Nair, choosing craft chocolate is also a sustainable choice, supporting fair trade and small-scale farmers. Crafted with only a few ingredients—cocoa beans, sugar, and occasional fruits, nuts, or spices—these chocolates retain their natural antioxidants and nutrients. As Chenddyna Schae, founder of Jus’Trufs Chocolatiers, shares, “The cocoa is fresh, so every bar is rich and unique.”

With a growing variety of flavors, including exotic spices and fruits, craft chocolates continue to delight taste buds across Bengaluru.
