After eight decades of service, Nammura Government Senior Primary School in Batarayanapura, Bengaluru, has been transformed into a state-of-the-art institution, rivaling convent schools. Thanks to a ₹6 crore renovation funded by Vidyashilp Kalyananidhi Trust under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the school now boasts modern facilities.
Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, who is also the local MLA, will inaugurate the revamped school today. Established in 1945 with just 22 students, the school grew to accommodate 600-700 students annually. However, with the rise of private schools, enrolment declined, and the building fell into disrepair.
The new infrastructure includes 17 rooms, study areas, projectors, computers, and 36 modern toilets across two floors. Most notably, the school now caters to 270 students from outside the district and state, primarily children of labourers from Vijayapur, Raichur, Chikkaballapur, Tumkur, Uttar Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh.
Key Features of the Renovated School:
- Modern Classrooms: 17 rooms equipped with projectors and computers
- Sanitation Facilities: 36 modern toilets across two floors
- Accessibility: Two entrances, one towards Amruthalli and another towards Batarayanapura
- English Medium: Introduced this year with 30 students enrolled
The school’s upgrade to ‘Nammura Government Model Senior Primary School’ is expected to attract more local students. Headmaster Ravikumar is optimistic about increasing enrolment in the coming years. The school’s revitalisation is a testament to the power of community collaboration and CSR initiatives in enhancing educational infrastructure.
