Bidar: A 26-year-old woman from Karnataka’s Bidar district died after she was allegedly assaulted by her husband in a case suspected to be linked to an extramarital relationship. Police have registered a murder case and launched an investigation into the incident.

The victim, identified as Sanjana, a resident of Honnikeri village in Bidar taluk, succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment on Sunday.

According to police, the accused, Bhagwat Gyaneshwar, a resident of Bolegaon village in Bhalki taluk, allegedly took his wife to a forested area near Gayamukh Temple on the pretext of travelling home.

Investigators allege that he assaulted Sanjana with an iron rod, causing severe injuries, including fatal injuries to her neck.

Police further suspect that the accused attempted to portray the incident as an accident following the alleged assault.

The couple had reportedly been married for about two years.
