Two assessment camps for persons with disabilities were successfully conducted in Aurad and Bidar taluks, benefiting 110 individuals who will receive disability aids and assistive appliances free of cost.

The initiative was organised to identify the needs of persons with disabilities and provide them with appropriate assistive devices that can help improve mobility, independence and overall quality of life.

Supporting persons with disabilities

During the camps, medical professionals carefully assessed each participant to determine the most suitable aids and appliances required for their daily lives.

These assistive devices are expected to help beneficiaries perform routine activities with greater ease, enabling them to live more independent and hassle-free lives.

The programme witnessed encouraging participation from individuals and families from the surrounding areas, reflecting the growing awareness about disability support services.

Collaborative effort by volunteers and medical team

The assessment camps were made possible through the dedicated efforts of doctors, priests, sisters and volunteers who came together to support the initiative.

Their collective effort ensured that the beneficiaries were properly evaluated and guided regarding the assistive devices they will soon receive.

Expressing gratitude to everyone involved, Fr Dr Anil Crasta, Development Consultant at the Karnataka Regional Catholic Bishops Council (KRCBC), Bengaluru, acknowledged the teamwork and commitment of all those who contributed to the success of the programme.

He noted that such initiatives play a crucial role in empowering persons with disabilities and helping them lead more dignified lives.

Fr Dr Anil Crasta also serves as the Director of Mother Theresa Charitable Hospital, Kalaburagi, which continues to support various healthcare and social welfare initiatives aimed at assisting vulnerable communities.

Through programmes like these assessment camps, organisations and volunteers are working together to ensure that persons with disabilities receive the support and resources they need to live with greater confidence and independence.
