With the state budget approaching, BJP legislators and MPs from Bengaluru, led by State President BY Vijayendra, met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday, urging a ₹15,000 crore allocation for the city’s growth. They also requested ₹150 crore per constituency to tackle local issues.
The BJP representatives stressed that if the government genuinely aims to enhance Brand Bengaluru, it must focus on infrastructure and development. “We, 16 MLAs and three MPs from BJP, are willing to collaborate for the city’s progress,” they stated, accusing the Congress-led government of neglecting Bengaluru’s needs since 2023.
Despite contributing over 60% of Karnataka’s tax revenue, Bengaluru has not received sufficient financial backing, they argued. While the city continues to expand, government funding has not kept pace, causing developmental work to stall. The ₹10 crore released three months ago was deemed inadequate for the city’s needs.
The memorandum, ahead of the budget presentation on March 7, listed urgent concerns such as severe traffic congestion, poor road conditions, and limited parking facilities, especially along airport routes. Leaders demanded an accelerated pothole-filling initiative and comprehensive roadwork projects.
Additionally, they highlighted Bengaluru’s worsening parking crisis due to the increasing number of vehicles. To alleviate the situation, they proposed identifying 100 designated parking spots across the city.
