A Blinkit delivery agent was arrested on Saturday for allegedly sexually harassing a 21-year-old Brazilian model at her residence in the city’s RT Nagar area.

Incident at model’s apartment

According to the FIR filed by an employer of the victim, the incident occurred on October 17 at the victim’s apartment, where she lives with two other women. The model had reportedly placed a food order through the Blinkit app around 3:20 pm.

When the delivery agent arrived, he allegedly behaved inappropriately and touched her in a manner that violated her dignity while handing over the order. Shocked and distressed, the victim rushed inside her home and did not immediately reveal the incident out of fear.

Complaint filed after reviewing CCTV footage

Days later, the model confided in her roommates, who informed her employer about the incident. The employer then reviewed CCTV footage from the apartment premises, which reportedly corroborated the complaint. A formal complaint was subsequently filed on October 25 at the RT Nagar police station.

Accused identified and arrested

Babasab Nemagoud, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North Division, Bengaluru), confirmed the arrest and identified the accused as Kumar Rao Pawar.
“The accused was arrested on the same day the complaint was filed. He is a Diploma student in a private college in Bengaluru and was working as a part-time delivery agent at Blinkit,” Nemagoud said.

Police have booked the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code related to sexual harassment and assault.

Blinkit yet to issue official statement

As of now, Blinkit has not released an official statement regarding the incident. Company representatives are reportedly assisting the police with details about the delivery agent’s employment records and verification process.

Background

The case has once again raised concerns over safety during doorstep deliveries and the vetting of gig workers in India’s rapidly growing quick-commerce sector. Civic groups and women’s rights activists have urged platforms to strengthen background checks and provide gender-sensitivity training to delivery staff.

Conclusion

The accused remains in custody while investigations continue. The Bengaluru Police have urged residents to report any such incidents promptly and assured strict action against offenders.
