Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has achieved a significant milestone with the pilot implementation of their “Nambike Mapa- Nimima Mana Mapa Nima Mana Doori” project. This initiative allows citizens to obtain building maps online, eliminating the need to physically visit BBMP offices.

Launched in March 2024 by Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Sivakumar, the project underwent a successful trial period in the Rajarajeshwari Nagar and Dasarahalli zones. During this time, a total of 302 applications were submitted, with 148 maps receiving approval. This positive response has prompted the BBMP to implement the programme across all zones starting September 2nd.

The project streamlines the map approval process by moving it entirely online. Citizens can submit applications and access related documents through the BBMP website (https://bpas.bbmpgov.in/BPAMSClient4/Default.aspx? TAV-1). The system leverages online checks by the Karnataka State Remote Sensing Application Centre (KSRSAC) to ensure compliance with regulations.

The “Nambike Mapa” scheme offers expedited approvals for buildings up to 50 x 80 feet. Under this initiative, maps are automatically granted within 15 days if no objections or reviews are raised by the authorities. This swift turnaround time eliminates unnecessary delays and simplifies the construction process for homeowners.

The online system promotes transparency by providing applicants with real-time updates on the status of their applications. Additionally, the process incorporates verification measures to ensure the accuracy of submitted documents. Any discrepancies can lead to legal action and restrictions on construction activities.

Overall, the “Nambike Mapa” project represents a significant step towards improving efficiency and accessibility within the BBMP’s building map approval process. The successful pilot and city-wide rollout are expected to benefit both citizens and the BBMP by streamlining procedures and reducing turnaround times.
