A senior district-level Congress leader in Bengaluru has been booked after allegations of assault on minor children surfaced from the Mahalakshmi Layout Assembly constituency.
Police said the case includes charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act along with relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Accused identified
The accused has been identified as Anand Naidu.
According to reports, an FIR was registered at Annapoorneshwari Nagar Police Station based on a complaint filed by the father of the children.
Allegations in complaint
The complainant alleged that Naidu had been in a relationship with his wife for the past several years and tensions rose after the children became aware of the matter.
He further accused the leader of attacking the minors during the dispute.
Reports claim the children alleged they were beaten with a metal rod, causing injuries to their hands and legs.
Property dispute claim also raised
The complaint also reportedly included allegations that Naidu and the complainant’s wife conspired to transfer ownership of property without consent.
Police are expected to examine documents and statements linked to these claims.
Investigation underway
Authorities said the matter is under investigation and medical evidence, witness accounts and other records will be reviewed.
No official response had been issued from the Congress party or the accused’s legal representatives at the time of reporting.
